Chinese New Year
On Sunday 22nd January it was the start of the Chinese New Year. P3/4 had been learning a lot about this as part of our Celebrations topics. On Friday we had a school assembly and read the story about the Chinese Zodiac Wheel. In the story each animal had to take part in a race in order to find out their place on the Zodiac Wheel. This year it is the year of the rabbit so we drew some pictures of a rabbit wearing red and holding a red envelope. The colour red is considered very lucky and children are given red envelopes containing money as a present for the new year. Mrs McMaster also treated us to some yummy fortune cookies! We had great fun learning all about the Chinese New Year.
