Athletics Day 1!
Today the KS2 children had the opportunity to try out a variety of exciting athletics activities. They practised throwing the javelin, discus and shot put, learning the correct techniques and how to stay safe while using the equipment. The pupils showed great determination as they aimed to improve their distance and control with each throw. They also took part in a standing jump, where they challenged themselves to jump as high as possible from a still position, developing their leg strength and coordination.
Throughout the session, the children encouraged one another and celebrated each other’s successes, creating a positive and supportive atmosphere. These activities not only helped to build physical skills such as strength, balance and coordination, but also boosted confidence and resilience as pupils tried new things and challenged themselves to do their best.
P1–P4 children will have the opportunity to take part in these activities tomorrow, and the whole school will also come together to participate in two relay races. This will be a great chance for pupils of all ages to work as part of a team, demonstrate their speed and teamwork, and enjoy cheering each other on. It promises to be another fun and active day for everyone involved.
