Day of Play in P7!
Today was International Day of Play and in P7 we had a fantastic time enjoying lots of different activities. We played with LEGO, where we used our imagination to build creative models, and we worked together to complete a challenging space-themed jigsaw. We also enjoyed a wide range of games including Draughts, Chess, Snakes and Ladders, Connect 4, Cluedo and Table Tennis, which helped us to think carefully, solve problems and develop our strategy skills. Jenga and Dobble were great for concentration and quick reactions. One of the highlights of the day was working together to create a giant domino trail, which was very exciting to knock down at the end!
Play is really important for children’s learning and development, as recognised in UN Convention Article 31, which states that every child has the right to relax, play, and take part in a wide range of activities. Through play, we develop important skills such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving and creativity. It also helps us to build friendships, boost our confidence and support our mental wellbeing. Today showed how much we can learn while having fun, and why taking time to play is such an important and valuable part of our school life.
