Kite Workshop for P7!

19th Jun 2026

Today our P7 pupils took part in a special KITE workshop with George as part of Refugee Week, kindly funded by the council. It was a meaningful and thought‑provoking session that helped the children develop a greater understanding of diversity, empathy, and inclusion.

During the workshop, George led a variety of interactive activities designed to encourage the pupils to think about what it means to feel safe, welcome, and valued. The children explored the experiences of refugees in an age-appropriate way, learning about why people may have to leave their homes and the challenges they can face when starting a new life in a different country.

One of the key activities involved group discussions, where pupils reflected on the importance of kindness and how small actions can make a big difference to someone who may be feeling anxious or unsure in a new environment. The children shared thoughtful ideas about how they could help others feel included, both in school and in their wider community.

The workshop also included the children making a kite. Overall, the KITE workshop was a valuable and engaging experience for our P7 pupils. We are very grateful to the council for funding this important opportunity, and to George for delivering such a powerful session that highlighted the importance of kindness, respect, and community during Refugee Week.
